Nada Kanaan

Body Wisdom Educator

Meet me, Nada

Hi, I’m Nada—pronounced “Neda.” Coffee shops often spell it “Netta,” but there’s a soft “d” in there. My name means morning dew in Arabic, a nod to my Syrian roots. As a mother of two grown children, this work is deeply personal. I’ve seen—and felt—the stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm that many children, teens, and parents carry. Over time, I realized how common emotional disconnection had become, and how much healing was needed.

From Systems to Healing Spaces

For over 20 years, I worked in corporate leadership across education, environmental, and financial services. Eventually, I shifted from designing systems to designing healing experiences.
Today, I’m a trauma-informed Body Wisdom Educator and Usui Reiki Master. I guide children and adults in exploring their emotions through programs rooted in breath, art, movement, and compassionate connection.

My approach is warm, playful, and grounded in care. I create spaces where curiosity leads, emotions are honored, and healing feels like an adventure.

What Guides My Work

I blend creativity, neuroscience, and soul. Using ancient wisdom, spiritual understanding, and evidence-based tools, I help people reconnect with their inner truth.

My background in business, technology, and design allows me to see things from multiple angles. I bring both analytical thinking and creative insight to help others shift perspective—through science, energy, and intuition.

Teaching Experience

My teaching journey began at Capital One, where I led small team workshops, and launched and scaled a company-wide mindfulness program. I left Capital One when I realized my calling is to work with children. I worked with Stories Unites Us, a children-focused nonprofit in South Africa for two years, and then launched my own purpose-driven path.

A turning point came when I began healing my own childhood wounds. I developed a drawing technique to explore memories and emotions that surfaced. As I deepened my somatic practices and journaling, more childhood scenes returned—and I discovered how safety in the nervous system is key to healing early trauma.

Since then, I’ve facilitated workshops for all ages across the globe. My work weaves together:

  • Human-centered design
  • Mindfulness, emotional literacy through nonviolent communication
  • Somatic practices and trauma-informed care
  • Embodiment and Empowerment

Since starting my purpose-driven path, I’ve led children’s workshops in Costa Rican public schools, supported programs in South Africa’s Western Cape, and offered sessions in Florida. My offerings have included:

  • Emotional Literacy Through Embodiment: The Hero’s Journey with Emotions (South Africa)
  • My Home in Nature, A nature-based art program, fostering self-awareness and ecological connection (Costa Rica)
  • Revealing the Truth Through Lines—Adults’ healing workshop received deeply affirming feedback (Guatemala and Europe)

My work is inspired by leaders like Dan Siegel, Tara Brach, Gabor Mate, Peter Levine, and Bessel van der Kolk, as well as childhood mental health research from CDC’s ACE study , UNICEF and WHO.

How I Share My Gifts

I offer workshops and playshops that support emotional literacy, healing, and spiritual growth. For children, my playshops are designed to be joyful and engaging, weaving in movement, embodiment, and a unique touch of photography to help them express and explore their inner world. Each session provides tools to help individuals reconnect with their inner strength and restore balance in body, mind, and spirit.

I also offer one-on-one sessions for adults to gently explore childhood memories, uncover unconscious patterns, and heal deep emotional wounds.
